Photography: n. f&-'tä-gr&-fE, The optical impression of real objects on a light-sensitive medium. "Photographs aren't taken, they're made..." I'm currently shooting with a Nikon D70 and a handful of lenses.  It's amazing - that's about all I can say.  Compared to my previous camera, a Fuji s5100, it's a rocket ship.  And I haven't even scratched the surface of what the camera is capable of...     October 16th, 2007 Color, Motorsport Corrado.  Almost done - it runs... July 8th, 2006 Color, 1941 Historical Aircraft Group Geneseo Air Show - Vintage aircraft and all the sights and sounds that entails.  B-17, B-25, P-51, Spitfire, Hurricane and more. May 28th, 2006 Color, Corrado Club of Canada Season Opener - Lots and lots of sweet Corrados and crazy Canadians.  The VRT Syncro couldn't make it, but the Jetta and white G60 got a workout on the QEW instead.  Good times. May 14th, 2006 Color, FLR SCCA AutoX - RIT.  First event of the season and first with the Kumhos.  Good runs had by all. May 7th, 2006 Color, Kev's Syncro Corrado VR6-T - It's fast, it's loud, it's awd.  And it happened to nuke third gear right after the shoot.  Good times. April 30th, 2006 Color, Watkin's Glen Opening Day - Kevin, Tyler, Ian and I headed down to the Glen for our annual 100mph "parade" laps.  Good times. March 20th, 2006 Color, Kev's VR6 Syncro - Yet another hot car for his collection.  2.9 liters of all-wheel drive european-spec kick-ass-ness. September 25th, 2005 Color, RallyeDrive '05 at H2O International - A gather of half the Rallye Golfs in North America.  Great showing - stock cars, the NGP VRT and the 1.8T/4Motion swap.  Good times. September 10th, 2005 Color, More of Kev's Rallye Golf - Picked up a circular polarizer.  Midday sun was a little intense, but I'm happy with a few of these. August 31st, 2005 Color, Kev's Rallye Golf - It's a rare car with rare wheels and a kickass supercharger.  It's hawt. August 28th, 2005 Color, Grand Am/Rolex race at Mid-Ohio - Nick invited us down to Columbus for a weekend of non-stop good times: Car shopping, car test driving, car racing and car shows. August 21st, 2005 Color, FLR SCCA AutoX - Seneca Army Depot Airstrip.  First time out with the Jetta.  Friggin' sweet - one and a half mile course.  Didn't do so hot, but it was still a blast. August 12th, 2005 Color, At the gun range - My Uncle Doug is nice enough to take us out to his gun club whenever I can make it down to Columbus.  This time it was just us and my Uncle Chip along with a couple bags of guns and ammunition.  Simply an awesome time... August 7th, 2005 Color, Bug Blast 15 - This is the Finger Lakes Vintage Volkswagen Club's annual car show out in Webster.  Beetles, Transporters, Ghias and more.  They also had a small watercooled class - and guess who took second place?  Yeah, that's right. July 30th, 2005 Color, Kevin and his Sea Doo on Lake Ontario - Kev had been telling me about the sick air he catches when there's decent waves.  It was a great day, so it seemed like a good photo opp.  Aperture priority at f/6 (1/1000-1250 avg shutter).  I'm pretty happy with these. July 16th & 17th, 2005 Color, WaterFest 11 - This is the big one, the reason I bought a telephoto zoom.  The biggest watercooled Volkswagen and Audi show in the country.  Amazing cars, great racing and a bunch of friends (and the police :) ).  Not all of these are great, but I just had to capture as much as I could. July 4th, 2005 Color, Fireworks and a couple Harleys - I was really looking forward to attempting to capture the town's fireworks this year.  Only slightly successful though.  Five second exposures at f/7 and ISO 200, but my focus was off slightly.  Additional snapshots of the family party... June 26th, 2005 Color, FastDubs Track Day at NYIRP - Practice for WaterFest.  Noon sun and cars do not make for quality photos.  Still, I'm happy with a few of these.  Color saturation is bumped slightly to compensate for the harsh light.  I would have liked to have used a slower shutter speed to capture more motion, but couldn't, even stopped down.  An ND filter may have helped.  Hopefully WF will be slightly more overcast...  Additional photos of vwremglx's Vento VR6 - glad someone appreciates them! June 18th, 2005 Color, New pool - Just snapshots to send to the family. June 15th, 2005 Color, Strasenburgh Planetarium and downtown Rochester - Checking out the much shallower depth of field with even the kit lens on the D70.  I like the shots of the Chase building - looks almost organic in some of them.  Not very happy with the alley way photo.  Must go back and reattempt at some point. June 8th, 2005 Color, High Falls District and downtown Rochester - First outing with the new camera.  The difference is amazing.  30 second exposures at ISO 200 of the aqueduct and dam.  Very happy with the noise levels and color. May 25th, 2005 - Fuji FinePix s5100 B&W, Nina and Sunshine - Attempting some candid shots.  Some of these I like, but most lack the contrast I wanted.  Could go back and tweak in PhotoShop a little. May 22nd, 2005 - Fuji FinePix s5100 B&W/Color, Railroad and highway - Just playing around with the depth of field at first mostly.  Some interesting results later with longer exposures.  The Fuji's 15 second maximum shutter speed was a problem, as was the noise levels.     jpennell2007
